How do new musicals get made? And how can research universities provide the ideal creative laboratories in which these iterative, experimental artistic processes can occur? In this session, attendees will get an in-depth look inside two new musical works-in-progress, each developed through Syracuse University’s Department of Drama, which has emerged as leader in the field through its nationally-renowned New Works/New Voices initiative and the incorporation of new musical development into its BFA performance curriculum.
