Hope Chávez (she/her/ella) is the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Greater New Haven (ACGNH). Hope is guided by her calling to center joy and justice to shift systems of power to radically support the underserved culture makers in her community. Prior to her appointment to the ACGNH, Hope held positions at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Long Wharf Theatre, A.R.T./New York, and many others.
Throughout her career, Hope has maintained her practices as a facilitator, creative producer, public speaker, and nonprofit consultant. Her leadership and facilitation practices draw from her trainings under such revolutionaries as adrienne maree brown (2019 Emergent Strategy Ideation Institute), Carmen Morgan (2019 artEquity Facilitator Training), Quita Sullivan (2018 Leadership Through Mentorship Program with WOCA), and many more. As an educator, Hope invests in supporting the next generation of leaders through her work at the School of Drama at Yale (Faculty, Lecturer in Theater Management) and guest lecturing engagements at Juilliard Drama, Southern Connecticut State University, and many others.
As an active community member, Hope is the Co-Chair of the board of the New Haven Pride Center and a commissioner for the Town Green District.
