Dr. George Poste joined Arizona State University in 2009 as the Del E. Webb Professor of Health Innovation and chief scientist of the Complex Adaptive Systems Initiative. From 2003 to 2009, he led the university’s Biodesign Institute.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, the Royal College of Pathologists, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. His honors include the R&D Magazine Scientist of the Year Award, the Scrip Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Personalized Medicine Coalition’s 2025 Leadership Award in Personalized Medicine.
Dr. Poste has served on the U.S. Defense Science Board and advises government agencies on defense, intelligence, national security, and healthcare. He is an ex officio member of the Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense.

About Frederick Frank
Frederick Frank (1932–2021) was a pioneering investment banker and venture capitalist whose Wall Street career spanned more than 50 years. He was among the first investment bankers to specialize in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and health care services.
A member of Yale’s Class of 1954, Frank graduated with a degree in philosophy. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe before earning an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1958.
Frank was a longtime advisor and generous supporter of Yale, particularly the Yale School of Management. His gifts supported student scholarships, language study, and faculty appointments, including the Frederick Frank Class of 1954 Professorship of Management and Finance. Together with his wife, Mary Tanner, he also supported a professorship in economics and a conference facility honoring David Swensen. Their son, Frederick Seller Frank, graduated from Yale in 2012.
