Yu Qiu is the Executive Director of Biologics Design and Technology at AstraZeneca. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China (2012), where he applied NMR spectroscopy and X‑ray crystallography to investigate protein structure and dynamics. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, elucidating a ubiquitin‑like protein conjugation cascade in autophagy using biochemistry, enzymology, crystallography, and electron microscopy.

In 2017, Yu joined Sanofi as a Senior Scientist in Biologics Research, where he determined antibody–antigen complex structures by X‑ray crystallography and cryo‑EM and provided structure‑guided antibody engineering across multiple therapeutic areas. Beginning in 2022, he led a global team advancing AI-driven innovation for antibody repertoire mining, engineering, multispecific design, developability prediction, and de novo biologics design.

Yu joined the Biologics Engineering department at AstraZeneca in 2025, where he oversees Lab Automation, Bioinformatics, AI innovation, and Augmented Biologics Design.
