Andrei Harwell, AIA, is an architect, urban planner, and educator. As senior critic at the Yale School of Architecture, he teaches graduate design studios and courses on affordable housing, architectural and urban design, urban morphology, and mapping. He is executive director of the Yale Urban Design Workshop where he has led award-winning community-based planning, design, and research projects that promote urban resilience, social equity, and sustainable development. In 2024 he received the AIA/ACSA Housing Design Education Award, and in 2026 the Seton Ivy award. He received his B.Arch from Carnegie Mellon University and M. Arch from Yale University.
