Dr. Alfred Slanetz has extensive experience in senior management of 5 successful biotech companies and scientific research. He was instrumental in developing 8 innovative therapies for patients and providing blockbuster investment returns to their shareholders. He is Founder, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of Geneius Biotechnology, Inc., creating SMAR-TTM T cell immunotherapies which are effective, non-toxic and affordable for all patients with cancer. Geneius is developing paradigm shifting SMAR-TTM Cell therapies targeting multiple mutations in a solid and liquid tumors from a small blood draw from the patient. Concurrently, he is Chairman of the Board of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, a non-profit celebrating its 50th year dedicated to funding paradigm shifting approaches to treating cancer through grants/support to academic researchers and investments through the AIM HI Accelerator Fund to translate innovative products from bench to bedside.

Dr. Slanetz was previously CEO of Bluebird Bio, where he led the team that was the first to successfully treat children with rare genetic diseases by inserting corrected genes into their bone marrow stem cells- curing many for life. He built Bluebird into a leading gene therapy company with four product approvals Zynteglo, Skysona, Lyfgenia and Abecma. Prior to that, he was SVP, Corporate Development of Esbatech and Fovea (sold to Novartis and Sanofi, respectively) and VP, Business Development of Transgene (IPO on Euronext: TNG). Dr. Slanetz headed New Product Planning for Genentech where he served on the core development teams for Herceptin, Avastin, Rituxan, Lucentis and Xolair which are currently on the market with millions of patients treated and billions of dollars of revenue. At Genentech, he was instrumental in the co-development of a biomarker diagnostic and the first personalized/precision therapy. Dr. Slanetz received his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University and Ph.D. in Immunology and Molecular Biology from Yale University.
